Many of our family are coming to Winnipeg for a Bar Mitzvah this coming weekend - it is always a joy to see everyone again.
The past week has been very hard on our household as my partner Ken lost his Mother. I had the honour of sending the prewritten obituary to the newspapers for publishing.
It is amazing that in my exended family everyone is mentioned in an obituary - no one is left out - every spouse of a child or grandchild. In Ken's Mom's obibtuary they left out the name of her only grandson by marriage and the father of her only two great granchildren -how petty - they said (those who worte the obit) that there would be too many names and the obit would read like a list!
Where I come from - FAMILY IS FAMILY!
So we have the Bar Mitzvah and the extended families - 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations come in to celebrate and we are all equals and equally close to one another - it is a difference in cultures.
